Totally don’t buy them. His children only just lost their grandma. Why would your loser DF think to do something kind for his kids at a time like this. What a loser. While I think it is odd that BM has the dress but no shoes – I do think I would cut her some slack and try to pick up some cheap shoes for the event. They don’t have to match the outfit, they can be black – and something they can wear in the future. I try not to buy shoes for BM’s home – but I did buy cute ballet shoes and MIL bought the same exact ones. I wasn’t about to drive 45 min to return the $6 shoes to Walmart…. so I told SD she could take one pair over to BM’s house – so she could have black “ballet” shoes at both homes. Sometimes it isn’t worth the struggle (I remember when DH and I first got together – SD was crying about not having underwear that fit at her mom’s – and DH went out and bought underwear for her to take with her… I was pissed at first, why should we dress her at BM’s – but the bigger picture is SD – who was wearing NO underwear at school because BM didn’t buy any). Her kids? Pretty sure they are HIS kids too. It’s an act of kindness he can give the woman he once loved and is the mother of his kids. I wonder what kind of man would really put up a fuss about a simple act of human decency….. As a child who lost her grandmother at age 6 and very vividly remembers the pain, I can’t believe your husband is even questioning this. His daughters are hurting, why can’t he just buy the f-ing shoes? The the hell cares whose “event” it is? It’s THEIR grandmother, and they are HIS kids! No, this is the little’s girls father allowing you to not let him do something for HIS children because you are a petty, little person Oh and I paid for my sister’s ENTIRE fucking funeral according to her son’s wishes, because their father was a piece of shit who gave zero fucks about his sons, and that was almost exactly 10 months after paying for my mother’s funeral. I had to sell very valuable, beloved jewelry that I had planned to give to my dd on her future special days, to pay for my sister’s service, and I didn’t hesitate for a single second to do it. Giving those boys the service they wanted for their mother was more important to me than replacable material things. That is what you do for the kid’s in your life that you love, what is best for them, not what is convenient for you. My mom wasn’t asked to do it, she just thought it was a nice gesture. My dad often did things for her that he didn’t have to as well. Re read, it is a mixed up mess but the kids did not loose their Mom. The birth Mom lost her mom, the kid’s grandmother who had a fiance, but was not yer married. The BM wants somebody? to buy shoes. The BM got the kids a purple pedicure, The kid now wants a nail salon purple manicure. Dad, who must be the poster’s EX says NO, there is not time. BM now called the OP’s fiance asking him to buy new shoes all around. Nobody will notice unless they are barefooted, they can wear what they have been wearing to church already, or someone can take them shoe shopping. Summer stuff is on sale, so they might cost less than the manicure. Can stop by a dollar store and get a bottle of purple polish if the halloween look is now in for funerals.
