Wolverine is the most popular member of the X-Men team and a fantastic Halloween costume choice for young boys. The cavalier attitude of the character combined with the iconic yellow costume and Wolverine claws make him instantly recognizable to children within this age group and if your child is a fan of superheroes, Wolverine’s definitely a costume that’s worth considering.
Wolverine first appeared in a comic book in 1974 and since then has become a firm fan favorite and appeared in many cartoons and video games. In 2000, Hugh Jackman gave the character a new lease of life and furthered its mainstream appeal with his highly praised portrayal of Wolverine in the movie X-Men. Following the success of the original movie, Jackman has taken the character from strength to strength and starred in two X-Men sequels – X2 in 2003 and X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006, plus two Wolverine films – X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009 and The Wolverine in 2013. This means interest in Wolverine is at an all-time high and there’s never been a better time for your young boy to dress up as this character for Halloween.
When it comes to choosing a Wolverine costume, you have two main option – the black, blue and yellow comic book Wolverine or the more rugged, human like movie Wolverine.
The comic book Wolverine costumes are available in both classic and ‘Deluxe’ versions. The classic comic book Wolverine costumes include a full body jumpsuit with a black, blue and yellow design and a black and yellow Wolverine facemask. The ‘Deluxe’ comic Wolverine costumes feature a similar jumpsuit with faux muscles molded into the arms, legs and torso for a more realistic look. They also come with plastic claws and a more detailed facemask which allow your child to represent the comic book Wolverine more accurately.
Alternatively, the movie Wolverine look can be easily replicated with the Wolverine Wig & Necklace Kit and a set of Wolverine claws.
