So much for the outrage power of social media. To all those tweeters furious about retailers’ plans to sell a mocking “Caitlyn Jenner” corset costume for Halloween, Spirit Halloween has a message for you: Tough beans. But keep those free advertising tweets coming! Spirit Halloween, which says it’s the nation’s largest specialty Halloween retaile…

Dans l’idéal, nous aimerions partir en octobre pour la saison d’Halloween. Mon fils raterait une semaine d’école. Si nous n’avons pas le choix ( car oui, malheureusement, on ne peut pas toujours choisir…

There’s a really interesting situation shaping up on our star this week. Given all the tropical storms spinning around the world, it’s not surprising this might slip under the radar. But it turns out this solar configuration has delivered some strong eruptions in the past, and could ultimately lead to, at the very least, some pretty auroras i…

Well, that’s typical of all genres, really. I can’t think of anything in horror that hasn’t been mentioned already. Oh yeah, that is pretty cool in general. I actually have a recent example, as in what I just finished watching about an hour ago. Really. I’ll get to that in a bit. After having watched it a few nights ago, it also reminded me of Halloween as The Shape was slow moving yet unstoppable and there was always a threat he is in the background somewhere. I have heard that too. If it’s something worth watching, then that is amazing considering how long it’s been for the director. Tuesday night, I watched Halloween II. It’s not great but at least it’s fine, it’s goofily charming at times and it has some quality kills. After tonight I plan on it being awhile before I see any other entries in the franchise but I realized I hadn’t watched Halloween III: Season of the Witch in a long time. I have seen it more than once and thought it wasn’t too good, and no not for the standard cliche reason that’s always said about it. Me, I always got hung up on the ending and how I read it as “The United States only has one time zone!” Now, I realize that likely was not the case, and in fact for the first time I noticed in the background of one scene a machine that gave the time for all the time zones. Now, I still have some questions about the movie and its ending but at least there’s only some little nonsensical moments and not one giant one that breaks the film. Now, I can say the movie’s somewhere between average and fine. The main cast does a nice job, the nearly wordless opening was pretty cool, it was nicely shot and directed, there’s always the air of creepiness throughout and the synth score is awesome. The general plot obviously being inspired by Invasion of the Body Snatchers and being a paranoid conspiracy thriller sort of thing, I do appreciate such things now when I didn’t used to. And I always did think it had some great deaths. Plus I now laugh at how Dr. Challis is a womanizer who loves alcohol and only after having sex with a young-looking woman he barely knows does he ask how old she is. If only we had gotten the original idea of additional Halloween anthology movies on a yearly basis. Compared to what we actually got from the franchise… that is regretful.
